“Joe” Walter J. Wozniak, age 85, passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021. Joe was born to John and Mary (Anaszewicz) Wozniak on March 27, 1936. He was baptized, received First Holy Communion and was confirmed at St. Hedwig’s Church. He graduated from Macomber High School. Joe was honorably discharged from the United States Army and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed the Boston Red Sox, loved bowling (he bowled four perfect 300 games in his lifetime), and loved to golf. He was affectionately known to many as “Joe the mailman'' during his 331/2 years at the United States Postal Service. Joe was a man that would offer help to anyone he met. Family was the most important thing to Joe...with a special place in his heart for his grandkids. He loved to slip ‘a couple bucks’ to them whenever he saw them. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Mary; brothers Richard “Rico,” Aloysius “Tarzie” and Melvin Wozniak; sisters Helen Szkudlarek, Dorothy Panning, Grace Wozniak, and Veronica ‘Sheba” Subleski.
Surviving are his loving wife Theresa (Kunkel); children, Michael Wozniak, Debra (Mike) Marvin, Marianne Reape, James (Tricia) Wozniak; beloved grandchildren Aimee Wozniak (fiancé Jeff Clark), Morgan Reape (fiancé Matthew Egizii), Danielle (Nick) Smallman, Madison Reape, Lauren Wozniak, and Rachel Wozniak; great grandchildren Alex Clark and Lucas Smallman; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and friends. If you ever met Joe, you were his friend. He was loved by so many and will be deeply missed by friends and family. We are thankful for so many good memories of Joe--husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend. The family would like to thank all that helped out in the last few months of Joe’s life--bringing a meal, caretaking, running an errand, etc.--it is so very appreciated.
