Verna Lewandowski

December 29, 1930 — February 4, 2025

Our beloved mother, Verna Viola Lewandowski, 94, passed away at the Elizabeth Scott Community where she had resided for seven years. She was born in North Baltimore, Ohio to Verna Viola (Clifton) and Charles Coleman Brown. Verna was an accomplished seamstress and pianist as well as having a beautiful singing voice.

On February 18, 1950, she wed our father Ervin Leonard Lewandowski, who preceded her in death. Together they built a life and a family. Purchasing property in West Toledo, they cleared a wooded lot, built their own home, adding two additions as their family grew, and raised four daughters. Our parent's lives revolved around their family and the Lewandowski's had many fun adventures. These included many trips and picnics to local lakes as well as yearly camping trips around the United States.

In later years, our parents were constant companions, spending many a Friday visiting garage sales to bring home some small "treasures," then enjoying a fish fry at local churches. Lifelong members of St. Clement Parish, they also enjoyed visiting different Catholic churches for mass as well as rides in the country. But, most of all, they enjoyed their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

As our mother aged, she faced loss, illness, and physical challenges as she did all things - with grace and stoicism. She never complained, had a dry sense of humor, and was truly a non-judgmental person. Our mother never said a negative comment about anyone. At the end of her life, our mother enjoyed a good cup of coffee, watching the birds and television, and visits from her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin, daughter Jean Scott as well as her sons-in-law, Karroll Scott and David Schupp. Verna is survived by her daughters Elizabeth Schupp (David), Mary Lewandowski (David), and Judith Murray (David), ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren with one on the way.

The family will be receiving friends on Sunday February 9, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the Urbanski Funeral Home a Life Celebration Home 5055 Secor Rd Toledo, Ohio where a prayer service will be at 3:30 p.m. The funeral mass will be on Monday February 10, 2025, in St. Clement Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial in Resurrection Cemetery.
