Valerie Obloza, devoted daughter and loving mother, of Convent Park Apartments, Sylvania, Ohio passed away August 22, 2023, at Flower Hospital, Sylvania, Ohio. Valerie was a long-time resident of Toledo’s Polish Village and a lifelong member of St Adalbert Parish. She took great pride in her family, home and Polish heritage. Her family will remember her as a skilled seamstress and for the beautifully decorated cakes she made for special occasions.
Retired from E.I. DuPont Co. after twenty-one years of service, she was a member of Eleanor Kahle Senior Center, a founding member and treasurer of Lagrange Development Corporation’s Village Council, the LCBA and several other parish organizations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Helen Kmiec, her brother Ted Kmiec, sister-in-law Helen Kmiec and nephew Jerome Obloza. She leaves behind her daughters, Michalene (William) Collins, Janina Douglas, grandchildren Theresa Collins and Sean (Julianne) Collins, nephew, Kevin Kmiec and children Christina (Mark) Egan and Patrick Kmiec, niece, Mary (Jeff) Thomas and children Amanda and Stephanie McCort, nieces Linda (Shawn) Prephan and Carol Obloza, goddaughter Marcia Wijas and many cousins, friends and neighbors from the Polish Village.

My life was full, I have savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.
So be not sad with extended sorrow.
Your healing sunshine is in tomorrow.
The family will be receiving friends at St. Adalbert Catholic Church 3233 Lagrange St. Toledo, Ohio Wednesday September 6, 2023, from 10 am until the Funeral Mass begins at 11 am. Interment will be private. The family prefers contributions be made to Saints Adalbert and Hedwig Parish, The Woodward High School Hall of Fame Scholarship, or the Nature Conservancy. Arrangements were entrusted to Urbanski Funeral Home a Life Celebration Home 5055 Secor Rd. Toledo, Ohio.
