It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Thomas “Randy” Cheatham, who peacefully departed this life in his sleep on January 10, 2025, at the age of 60. Randy was born in Monroe, Michigan on September 12, 1964, to Thomas Hardaway and Cecelia Ann (Cheatham) Moore, who both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Tina (Cheatham) Terry; his uncles, Gene and Frederick Cheatham; his aunt, Clodis Cheatham; and his cousin, Staci (Stringer) Thrash. He is survived by his siblings: Eric Cheatham, Shawn Goins, Marcia Franklin, Karen Franklin and Patricia (Epps) Evans; his aunt, Mildred (Cheatham) Stringer; his godmother, Verlene Allen; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Though life presented its challenges, Randy faced them with courage and resilience. His legacy is one of love, connection, and unforgettable memories. He was a cherished son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend—an irreplaceable part of our lives. In honoring Randy’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral or memorial service. However, a private family gathering will be held at a later date. We invite those who knew Randy to honor his life in their own personal ways—through stories, shared memories and by extending kindness to others. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Randy’s memory to the Monroe Community Mental Health Authority. Our family would like to thank JAG Healthcare in Wooster, Ohio for providing excellent care to Randy the past nine years.
