Sophie (Zofia) Poskarbiewicz

Sophie (Zofia) Poskarbiewicz age 101 of Sylvania Twp, Ohio passed away April 2, 2019 at Lutheran Services Wolf Creek. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 30, 1917 to Antoni and Adele (Keilb) Rucki. Sophie attended Woodward High School and aspired to become a teacher, but had to quit at age 16 when her youngest brother was born to help care for him, she also rescued him from their home when it caught fire. She retired from Toledo Trust. Sophie enjoyed sewing, crocheting, playing Bingo, bowling and loved to bake and cook. She was a very independent woman and had stayed quite active until her late 90's. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ted, grandchildren Christopher Hensley, Daniel and Jeffery Poskarbiewicz, brothers, Stanley and Bill Rucki and sisters Isabel Ortyl and Bertha Rucki. Sophie is survived and will be missed by her children, Danny (Debbie) Poskarbiewicz, Sandra Poskarbiewicz Hensley and Gary (Libby) Poskarbiewicz, brother Eugene Galus, 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. The family will be receiving friends in the Urbanski Funeral Home 5055 Secor Rd Toledo, Ohio on Friday April 5, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Interment services will be private. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Lymphoma/Leukemia Society, Mercy College of Toledo, Hospice of Northwest Ohio or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
