Robert John "Bob" Caputo, age 91, of Toledo Ohio passed away July 1, 2024, with his loving wife by his side. Born on December 2, 1932, in Toledo, Ohio to Angelo John Caputo and Dorothy Louise(Kern) Caputo. Bob lived a life full of love, dedication and service.
Bob attended St. Thomas Elementary School and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1950, where he excelled in varsity football, basketball and track. He was stationed at Moffitt Field in Mountain View, California with the air transport squadron, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, The Good Conduct Medal and First Award.
On October 4, 1952, Bob married the love of his life, Cecelia Reynoso. They met while he was stationed in California and together built a beautiful life spanning 71 years. Following his military service, Bob worked at Libbey Owens Ford from January 1955 until his retirement in 1991. Over his 36-year career, he served as a millwright, sheet metal worker and Union Chair for over 10 years.
Bob instilled strong family values in his own family. He was inspired by his grandparents' Sunday Spaghetti dinners after church. He enjoyed family gatherings, especially holidays. He had a love of his wife's cooking and enjoyed music and dancing with her. Bob loved sports; known for his fierce competitiveness. Bob was a great coach and teacher, sharing his love for competition and good sportsmanship. He coached the Trilby T-Birds for over 25 years and was inducted into the Washington Junior Football League Hall of Fame. Passionately supported the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and Michigan Wolverines. He enjoyed softball, fishing, hunting, golfing and attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events. Bob was a skilled card player, enjoying euchre, poker and pinochle. Everyone who knew Bob knew not to walk in front of the TV during sports-especially in the 9th inning or 4th quarter.
Enjoyed friendships over the years-especially breakfasts with his St Thomas grade school friends well into his 80's. Central Catholic Class of 1950 continued with luncheon reunions. A devout member of St Clements Catholic Church since the 1950s, Bob's faith was a cornerstone of his life.
