Phillip R. Norkavage, age 78 of South Toledo passed away suddenly, June 27, 2024, at home. Phillip was born in Toledo Ohio on October 23, 1945, to Floyd and Helen (Przybylski) Norkavage. After graduating from Central Catholic High School in 1963 Phil joined the U.S. Air Force and served his country from 1963 until 1967 while stationed in Delaware, California, and Korea. After returning home from the service he worked as an auto mechanic at his father's Sohio and Amaco gas stations on South Avenue, in Toledo. Phil married Barbara Thompson May 4, 1968, and together they raised their three daughters. He worked at Bostwick Braun, Ort Tool and Die and retired in 2007 from Betco Corporation. A talented drummer, he loved music and played in two local bands, Southbound and Spare Parts. Phil will be remembered as a funny, loyal and silly husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed playing pranks for those he loved.
Surviving are his loving wife Barbara and beloved children, Julie (Jim) Ray, Jody (Steve) Romstadt and Jennifer Skala and his sister Sharon Papocchia. Also surviving are his nine grandchildren, Maggie and Riley Cornell, Jimmy, Natalie and Noah Ray, Sydney, Audrey, Madison and Morgan Skala and his great granddaughter Aaliyah Bahmanpour.
Phil's Life Celebration will be Tuesday July 2, 2024, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Urbanski Funeral Home a Life Celebration Home 5055 Secor Rd. Toledo. Visitation will continue Wednesday July 3, 2024, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. and the Funeral Mass will begin at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church 2255 Central Grove Toledo, Ohio 43614.
