Margaret "Marge" Rose Baranoski

February 23, 1932 — July 18, 2021

Margaret "Marge" Rose (Wenzel) Baranoski, age 89 of Toledo Ohio, passed away on July 18, 2021.
Marge was born February 23, 1932. in Toledo, Ohio to John and Martha (Kordas) Wenzel. She married Thomas R. Baranoski January 12, 1952, at St. Adalbert Catholic Church.
Marge grew up in Toledo’s old north end with her four siblings (Rosemarie, John, Phyllis and Paul). Graduating from Central Catholic High School in 1950, her mother encouraged her to attend the Chicago Institute of Art, but decided not to attend.
Marge dreamt of being an artist and it showed throughout her life. Anyone who knew her, knew she was an artist in everything she did. Marge exhibited her artistic talents at Community Chest (United Way) and Champion Spark Plugs through her jobs and in her home inside and out. She was also an artist at home, not only in the kitchen, as a chef and baker and in her creations through sewing, but in her garden with her flowers as well. This was her way of bringing her art to others and serving while raising her children, Mark, Mary Ellen and Susie.
Once her children were grown and moved out, Marge continued to work outside the home and found many ways to serve her community. She was an active member of her high school sorority, golfed weekly, and volunteered in a variety of places including the Toledo Museum of Art, Toledo Hospital, The Red Feather Campaign, and GESU Parish washing altar cloths and with the Funeral Ministry. In addition, she was a longtime member of the Black Swamp Hosta and Daylily Society, as well as the Maumee Valley Herb Society, where she served as Historian.
Marge and Tom traveled every summer with the kids to Rifle Lake, Michigan, many places in Canada, usually camping in points well beyond Toledo. Travel time increased after they retired by exploring National Parks, through Elderhostel programs and numerous train trips.
Marge looked back on her life with great pride and fondness. If you asked her today though, if she could go and do anything, it would be to head to a casino to gamble and have lunch. She was a winner in all she did, and she knew it. We know we were the real winners, though, because she was ours.
Surviving Marge are her loving children, Mark (Emily Eby) Baranoski, Mary Ellen (Calvin) Babich, and Susan (James) Phillips. Grandchildren Jennifer Phillips, Anthony (Melinda) Phillips, and Mia (Timothy) Knicely. Also surviving are 8 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Marge’s husband, parents, her siblings Rosemarie Wenzel, John (Carol) Wenzel, Paul (Lillian) Wenzel, and Phyllis (Alfred) Michalak preceded her in death.
