Florence Ann Gralak, a vibrant spirit who embraced every moment of her remarkable 101 years, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2025, at the Elizabeth Scott Community in Maumee, Ohio. Born on July 27, 1923, in Toledo, Ohio, to John and Apolonia (Chmielewska) Kolodzieczyk, Florence was known for her infectious energy and zest for life.
A proud graduate of Swanton High School, Class of 1942, Florence pursued further education at Davis Business College and later married her beloved Felix Gralak in 1948. She exemplified hard work, juggling numerous roles throughout her life. From selling produce on her 15-acre farm at The Toledo Market to working at highly regarded establishments like Jeep, Autolite, J & L Steel, and The Toledo Hospital, Florence was never one to shy away from an opportunity to stay busy.
Her active involvement extended into her community. She was deeply engaged in countless organizations, including the UT Polish Mothers Club, St. Hyacinth Seniors Club, Toledo Polish Genealogy Club, Catholic War Veterans Ladies Auxiliary, and the St. Vincent De Paul 55 Plus Club. Florence especially cherished her role in arranging bus trips for the St. Vincent De Paul 55 Plus Club for more than three decades, bringing joy and adventure to many.
Florence is lovingly remembered by her devoted sons, Kenneth (Bette) Gralak and Ronald (Holly) Gralak. She will be fondly missed by her grandchildren: Samual Gralak, Carly (Marc) Wennogle, Tradd (Allison) Gralak, and Alexander (Susan) Gralak. She is welcomed into eternity by her loving husband, Felix, and her brothers Edward, John, Chester, Daniel, and Raymond Kolodzieczyk and her sister Ann Andrzejewski.
Florence's Life Celebration will be Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Urbanski Funeral Home, a Life Celebration Home, 5055 Secor Rd. Toledo. The visitation will continue Friday, February 7, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. until the Funeral Mass, begins at 10:30 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 4555 North Haven Avenue. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery Toledo, Ohio.
