Edward George Young, a devoted father, esteemed physician, and cherished member of the Toledo community, passed away on December 29, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, integrity, and unwavering dedication to both his family and his profession. Born February 3, 1931, in Kingston and later establishing his life in Toledo, Edward was a proud American citizen of Chinese descent, and he embodied the values of hard work and loyalty throughout his life.


Edward earned his Doctorate in Medicine from the University of London Medical School West Indies and practiced medicine in Frankfield, Jamaica before immigrating to the United States in 1974. After completing his US family practice residency at Riverside Hospital in Toledo, Ohio he then went into family practice finally retiring in 2005 at the age of 75. Edward devoted his career to improving the health and well-being of his patients. His ethical approach, compassionate care, and dedication to excellence made a lasting impact on those he served. He lived a life that exemplified the importance of both professional commitment and family values, always prioritizing the needs of others above his own.


Edward was preceded in death by his beloved wife Dorothy Young and his parents Clarence and Ella (Chin) Young, sisters, Jeanette Moo Young, Patricia Young Kong, and Carole Young Kong. Surviving are his three children, Mark (Tina) Young, Suzette Young, and Bradford (Shawn O Sullivan) Young, grandchildren, Ronald, John, Michael and Karis Young, sisters, Norma Wong and Geraldine Young (Jun Lau), and many nieces and nephews. Edward's deep love for his family was evident in all he did; he cherished every moment spent with them, instilling in them the same principles of hard work and ethical living that guided his own life.

A notable fan of Notre Dame Football and the Boston Red Sox, he will be fondly missed for his passion for sports and his ability to bring families together.


As we reflect on Edward's remarkable life, we remember a man whose unwavering dedication to his profession and family left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him. His spirit will forever resonate in the lives he touched.


Friends and family are invited to join in celebrating Edward's extraordinary life and the profound impact he had on all who were fortunate to know him. Dr. Young's Life Celebration will be Sunday January 5, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in Urbanski Funeral Home a Life Celebration Home 5055 Secor Rd. Toledo, Ohio. Visitation will continue Monday January 6, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in Christ the King Church 4100 Harvest Lane Toledo, Ohio where the Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery Toledo, Ohio.
