Donald F. Kowalski

Donald F. Kowalski age 75 of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully August 12, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Donald was born May 21, 1947, in Toledo to Francis and Angeline (Dembinski) Kowalski. Don graduated in 1965 from Central Catholic High School and in 1970 from the University of Toledo with his Bachelor of Education degree. Don married Charise Boutelle July 24, 1971, in St. Joseph Catholic Church Maumee, Ohio. He Loved teaching and was a dedicated teacher in the Toledo Public Schools. He taught at Waite High School, Lagrange School, Gunkle School and finally Jones Jr. High, where he worked most of his teaching career until retiring in 2003. Upon retirement, Don began working at Urbanski Funeral Homes where he worked at both locations. He started first at the Lagrange St. location and then at the new Secor Location as a greeter for calling hours and as a driver for funerals until he retired a second time in December of 2020. Don was an avid sports fan. He loved Cleveland Indians baseball, Cleveland Browns football, Michigan Football, all Toledo Rockets sports and Red Wings Hockey. Even though Don never called in sick and had so many sick days he could be sick for 2 years before using up his time, he did however, call in sick to attend the Indians World Series game in Cleveland. After retirement, Sherry and Don would attend the Indian’s spring training games in Arizona and then Florida. Don also loved playing tennis and for many years he played on a league at Shadow Valley. He will also be remembered by his buddies in the “McDonald’s Breakfast Club”.

Surviving, are his loving wife of 51 years, Sherry, sons, Robbie (Stephanie) Kowalski, and Keith Kowalski, daughter Leslie Kowalski, brother Gerald (Ruby) Kowalski and his beloved grandchildren Mya, Jacob and Brooklyn.
