Devin Xavier Brackett

September 20, 1986 — August 28, 2021

Devin Xavier Brackett, born September 20, 1986, loved as hard as he fought. This was evident as family and friends poured in to surround him in his hometown of Toledo, Ohio. In that shared embrace he relentlessly held on to say goodbye, before resting peacefully on August 28, 2021.
Devin harnessed an unmatched strength and uplifting devotion to those close to him; he would drop whatever he was doing to be of service day or night, he would be there to put a smile on your face and lift you up-even amidst his own pains. A dedicated Father of 2, Son, Brother, Grandson, Nephew, Uncle, Cousin, and Friend; Devin’s life had so much meaning and purpose. While we wish we could have many more years with him, the life he lived was not in vain. Devin lived and loved more in his 34 years than most people get to in 100. And man did he laugh.
His laughter around a bonfire will echo through our hearts. Memory of his childlike humor, and funny faces will forever draw the corners of our lips toward the heavens. Devin will always have a place on our dance floors, at our tables for shared meals, and the card games he loved to cheat in. Skate parks near and far will envy his skills on the board for years to come.
Devin Xavier Brackett, survived by his children Xavier (10) and Liana (4) Brackett, parents Robert (Jodi) Brackett and Carol Barrick-Ortega, grandparents Sharon Brackett and Patricia Barrick, sisters Kari Brackett (Thomas) and Alexandra (Bailey) Mannon, and so many other loving family and friends. Preceded in death by his stepfather Paul Ortega, and grandpas Wayne Barrick and Robert Brackett Sr.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in honor of Devin on Thursday September 2, 2021 at The Lodge at Strawberry Acres 950 S. McCord Rd Holland, Oh 43528 at 3pm. Followed by a shared meal, and an exchange of stories as we pay tribute to this man who harnessed a heart of gold. Events at this location will wrap up around 7pm.
To know Devin is to honor him with a chin up while being 100% true to you. Come as you are.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a fund for his children via contact with his sister, Kari Brackett, or to a preferred local mental health or addiction facility per the family’s request.
