It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Cyril Yonov, age 83, of Toledo, who departed this life on Wednesday, July 31, 2024. Born on April 3, 1941, in Latvia to Fr. Alexis and Valentina Yonov, Cyril's journey was one marked by resilience and dedication. His family immigrated to America during his youth, seeking new opportunities and a brighter future. A Trinity College graduate of the class of 1963, Cyril's professional life was distinguished by his unwavering commitment to Owens Corning, where he dedicated his entire career. Starting in the processing and quality control division, his diligence and expertise eventually led him to the international division, from which he retired with honor. In 1986, Cyril and his wife, Carol, moved to the Toledo area, where he became a cherished member of the community. He was known as a person of great faith, known for his mild-manner and determined spirit, Cyril was admired by all. He loved golf, whether playing on the greens or watching it on television. Cyril was preceded in death by his beloved parents and his brother Serge. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 56 years, Carol (Zimmerman) Yonov; his sister, Tanya (Yonov) Harvey, Susan (Zimmerman) and Gordon Tuenge and his sister-in-law, Gail, along with seven nieces. Cyril's memory will also be cherished by his extended family and friends. Visitation for Cyril will be held at St. Elizabeth the New Martyr Orthodox Mission Church, 28010 East Broadway Street, Walbridge, OH 43465, on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. until the service begins at 6:30 p.m. Additional visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with the Liturgy commencing at 11:00 a.m., followed by burial at Resurrection Cemetery, Toledo, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Elizabeth the New Martyr Orthodox Mission Church. The family is grateful to Urbanski Funeral Home, a Life Celebration Home, 5055 Secor Rd., Toledo, Ohio, for assisting with the funeral arrangements. Cyril's legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will be forever remembered by those whose lives he touched. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
