Alice Catherine Sexton, age 82, of Lambertville, MI, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 11, 2024, at the home of her son in Tennessee. Alice was born on March 18, 1942, in Toledo, OH, to J. Kenneth and Lucine (LaPointe) Sauppé.
Alice was a proud graduate of Central Catholic High School and retired after a fulfilling 28-year career with JCPenney. She was a woman of strong faith, compassion, and service. In her retirement, Alice found great joy in giving back to her community by volunteering at the Bedford Public Library, Regina Coeli Church and Helping Hands of St. Louis, where she selflessly served meals to those in need.
An avid reader with a love for learning, Alice also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She had a passion for painting, crocheting, and playing cards, and her warm presence will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Alice was known for her kindness, generosity, and her willingness to offer a helping hand to anyone in need.
Alice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Daniel Sexton, her parents, and her brother, Paul Sauppé. She is survived by her five children: Mark (Lea Ann) Sexton, Catherine (Paul) Huizenga, Matthew (Martha) Sexton, Christopher (Connie) Sexton, and Sean (Joni) Sexton. She is also survived by her sister, Karen Sauppé, her brother, Terry (Cindy) Sauppé, and her sister-in-law, Mary Jane Sauppé. Alice was cherished by her 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a constant source of joy and pride in her life.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 8330 Lewis Ave., Temperance, MI, with a funeral mass following at 12:00 PM. Alice will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Alice’s memory to ‘Helping Hands of St. Louis’, 443 Sixth St., Toledo, OH 43605 or to ‘Friends of the Bedford Library’, 8575 Jackman Rd., Temperance, MI 48182.
Alice’s kindness and love will live on in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace.
