Obituaries - In Loving Memory

Constance Mae Brown
October/1/1939 - May/2/2023

Constance Mae Brown age 84, formerly of Toledo, Ohio passed away May 2, 2023, at Hampton Manor Temperance, Michigan. Connie was born October 1, 1938, in Toledo to Harold and Lillian (Smith) Hoover. A graduate of Burnham High School, Connie married the love of her life Jimmy Brown on May 23, 1959. To say they were best friends doesn’t state it strong enough. They were married for 61 years until Jimmy’s death in 2020. During that time, they were seldom apart. Together they both had a passion for harness racing. For many years they owned horses that raced at Raceway Park. Connie was a bookkeeper at Sears Department Store in Toledo by day and a loving wife and mother the rest of the time. She was a caretaker for her husband who was crippled by polio as a teen and a doting mother for their two children. Connie loved traveling to the Kentucky Futurity, a stakes race for three-year-old trotters in Lexington, Kentucky. She also loved traveling to Soaring Eagle Casino in Michigan and once stayed at the Golden Nugget in Reno Nevada. That was their one and only airplane ride; once was enough. Connie cooked great meals and loved everything strawberry. She was the sweetest lady you would ever meet, as sweet as the desserts that she enjoyed.

Surviving are her loving children, Douglas Brown and Karen Jacobiak, grandchildren, William (Alex) Brown, Brittney Frelin (Brandon), Danielle Jacobiak (Jackson) and Shane Brown (Kelsey), along with 6 wonderful great grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, Jimmy Brown and brother, Allen Hoover.
