John L. Schmidt age 76 of Temperance, MI passed away April 3, 2023, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. John was born July 14, 1946, in Toledo, to John and Gretchen (Fiedler) Schmidt. He was a 1966 graduate of Woodward High School where he played Varsity Hockey. John married Janelle Szymanski and together they raised two children. He was the owner of Lowes & Advance Window Cleaning in Toledo for over 23 years, until retiring in 2013.

Surviving are his loving wife of 57 years, Janelle, daughter, Cathy (Jeff) Samberg daughter in law, Carla Schmidt, mother Gretchen Schmidt, step-mother Phyllis Schmidt, sister-in-law Karen (Mark) Stasa, brother-in-law, Jeff (Peggie) Szymanski, grandchildren Katie and Jake Samberg, Stefan (Katie Duffy), Madeline, Will and Max Schmidt, great granddaughter Raegan Judith, sisters, Sandy (Glenn) Pegler, Cindy (Dan) Deeter, Jamie Williams who was like a son and many nieces and nephews. Preceding John in death were his son, Timothy John Schmidt, father, John “Louie” Schmidt, stepfather, William Schmidt and sister-in-law Judith Yankovich.

John’s Life Celebration will be Tuesday April 18 from 5 until 7:30 pm at Urbanski Funeral Home a Life Celebration Home 5055 Secor Rd. Toledo, Ohio where his Memorial Service will be at 7:30 pm. with Fr. Dave Nuss officiating. Inurnment will be private at a later date, in Calvary Cemetery. The family would like to thank all the Angels at Hospice of Northwest Ohio for all their loving care and especially special angel “Michelle” and Dr. Deborah Guntsch and Dr. Fadhil Hussein. Memorial contributions are encouraged to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
