Obituaries - In Loving Memory

Harlan Thomas Pierce
January/16/1956 - December/9/2022

“The song has ended, but the melody lingers on…”

Harlan “Thomas” Pierce of Toledo, Ohio was called home unexpectedly on Friday, December 9th, 2022 at the age of 66. The world has lost a great father, grandfather, friend, and loved one.

Thomas was born on January 16, 1956 to Harlan and Carol (Martin) Pierce. In his younger years, Tom enjoyed racing dirt bikes and his love of motorcycles was evident throughout the years. He was a former Journeyman Tool and Die Maker, but perhaps that was never his true passion. He was adventurous and enjoyed camping and taking road trips, visiting many state parks across the country in his motorhome. He lived for beautiful scenery. Tom was also a passionate pet lover and considered his pets to be members of his family, speaking to them as people instead of animals. Above all else, Tom was an accomplished musician. He played both the lead and bass guitar and played them well. His heart and soul belonged to music. From his years spent with the Whoodoo Men, playing alongside Josh Boyd and the VIP Band, to his most recent adventure with the Fabulous Disaster, he put everything he had into his music.

Tom was most proud of his family. He was very much involved in his grandchildren’s lives, supporting their passions whether it was football, BMX, dirt bikes, go-karts, or most recently the enlistment of his oldest grandson into the Army National Guard. Tom loved his only daughter and never failed to tell her and everyone else how proud of her he was.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harlen and Carol, and sister, Susan. He is survived by his only daughter Sarah Pierce (Eric), grandsons Cameron Beasley and Caden Stewart, nieces and nephews Kristin, Amanda and Phillip, his long-time love Joni WhiteCoats, and many dear friends who will miss him deeply.
