Vernon “Buz” G. Brubaker
April/15/1933 - June/15/2022

Our devoted husband, father, Papa and friend passed away peacefully Wednesday June 15, at Ebeid Hospice Care, Sylvania, Ohio. Vernon Gale Brubaker was born April 15, 1933, in Toledo, Ohio to Lawrence and Rema (Knaus) Brubaker. Buz was married for 67 years to Marilyn and raised three sons and a daughter in Lambertville, MI. He attended DeVilbiss and Macomber High School and worked at Roberts Printing after finishing schooling in printing. He then went on to work at the Toledo Blade as a printer and retired as a superintendent of the composing room after 32 years there. Buz and Marilyn built their lakefront home in Hillsdale, MI. They spent many years in his retirement there entertaining family and friends. His many grandchildren have special memories of spending weeks there at the lake, always allowed to bring along a friend or two or three. He also spent many winters on the west coast of California in San Clemente with Marilyn and always had plenty of room for visiting family and friends.

Buz was an avid softball player and bowler in his younger years. He also enjoyed coaching his son’s 3-B baseball teams in their youth. Buz later took up the love of golf, hunting and fishing with his friends and family. Along with his wife, Marilyn, Buz is survived by his sons Larry, Mark (Shirley), Brian (Janis) and daughter Linda (Orion), grandchildren, Christopher and Matthew Brubaker, Sarah (Devin) Chambers, David (Danielle) Brubaker, Bobby (Brianna) and Ryan (Jessica) Kay, Nick (Ellen), Josh and Rachel Brubaker, great grandchildren, Reagan, Tenley, Riley, Nora and Anna. Buz was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Rema, brother Ken, brother in law Art Miller and his wife Kathy.

Memorial Services
Vern’s Life Celebration will be Monday June 20, from 2 until 8 pm in Urbanski Funeral Home a Life Celebration Home 5055 Secor Rd. Toledo, Ohio. Funeral services will begin Tuesday at 10 am in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Toledo, Ohio. The family prefers contributions be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.
