Thomas L. Spitler
December/18/1947 - January/14/2021

Thomas L. Spitler age 73 of Toledo passed away Thursday January 14, 2021 at Ebied Hospice in Sylvania, Ohio. Thomas was born in Fremont, Ohio on December 18, 1947 to Milan and Elizabeth (Maschke) Spitler. He was a high school graduate of Genoa High School and soon entered the U. S. Army and was sent off to Vietnam. Thomas was honorably discharged but had suffered for years with different health issues due to Agent Orange. During High School he was All State in track and football. He had held the Shot Put record for over 50 years and he became a member of the Genoa High School Hall of Fame for both sports. Thomas and his wife Donna were married for 35 years and she preceded him in death. With his wife he enjoyed Bob Evans Restaurant were they frequently would be guests. Throughout his life he had a menagerie of pets loving every one of them. He had a love of Hot Rods, sports, traveling and was very musically talented on the guitar and piano. Thomas adored his family and enjoyed every minute of time he spent with them. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Thomas is survived by his son Shawn (Jenn) Spitler, grandchildren Courtney Taraschke, Rylee Spitler and Dylan Spitler, also surviving are his siblings Jerry (Jan Hudson) Spitler, Georgia (Lynn) Witt and Rick Spitler. The family will be receiving friends in the Urbanski Funeral Home 5055 Secor Rd Toledo, Ohio on Wednesday January 20, 2021 from 10:00 am until 12:00 p.m. where funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. The burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at Highland Memory Gardens Waterville, Ohio. Any contributions can be given to the family or the American Diabetes Association.

Memorial Services
The family will be receiving friends in the Urbanski Funeral Home 5055 Secor Rd Toledo, Ohio on Wednesday January 20, 2021 from 10:00 am until 12:00 p.m. where funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. The burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at Highland Memory Gardens Waterville, Ohio. Any contributions can be given to the family or the American Diabetes Association.
