Kristine Ann (Benson) Liebrecht
March/6/1958 - January/9/2019

Kristine Ann (Benson) Liebrecht of Adrian, MI, received her crown from Jesus on January 9, 2019, while surrounded by her family in Laguna Hills, CA.

Kris was born March 6, 1958, in Cadillac, MI, to Robert and Amelia (Carlson) Benson. Kris graduated from Cadillac High School and attended Michigan Tech University to study health sciences. While at MTU, Kris met the love of her life, Steve Liebrecht, on a blind date. They were married in 1981 and made a home in Pemberville, OH for 16 years. In 2001, they acquired a unique berm house on 15 acres in Adrian, MI. She loved cultivating flowers and deeply enjoyed the many birds that visited her yard daily.

It was Kris's greatest desire to raise her family to love and serve the Lord Jesus. She set the example through many years of Bible study and support for missions. She dedicated herself to her family and homeschooled all eight children. Steve and Kris took a real-life approach to education and made sure every family outing was filled with learning and serving. They drove from Michigan to Texas to learn more about their family history at Texas A&M University. While on a trip to Nova Scotia, they shared the gospel with a salty sailor, sang for him and brought tears to his eyes.

Music was very important to Kris, though she often said she sang like a crow and not like a songbird. So, she made sure every one of her children learned to harmonize together and play an instrument. The family often took road trips, but they found a church to visit every Sunday morning, where Kris would eagerly volunteer her children to perform. Her children may have protested and groaned, but they never failed to encourage others through songs about their Savior. It has been a privilege and comfort for her children to gather around her bed and sing for her.

Kris is survived by her husband, Steve, and their eight children: Rebekka (Wayne) Crawford of Boon, MI, Matthew (Leanne) Liebrecht of Lowell, IN, Rachel (Levi) Johnson of Rogers City, MI, Amanda (Jon) Boyce of Raleigh, NC, Timothy (Hannah) Liebrecht of Morgantown, WV, Elizabeth Liebrecht of Adrian, MI, Hannah Liebrecht of Raleigh, NC, and Joshua Liebrecht of Rogers City, MI, along with seven grandchildren: Weston, Alivia, Reagan, Riley, Ted, Amelia, and Heidi.

Kris is also survived by her father, Robert Benson of Cadillac, MI and four siblings: William (Jill) Benson of Cadillac, MI, Jon (Jacqueline) Benson of Alpena, MI, Karen (Steven) Sterzick of Alto, MI, Debra (Mathias) Buckson of Ypsilanti, MI. She was preceded in death by her mother, Amelia, and eldest brother, Kenneth. In addition, Kris is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends that she loved dearly.

This past year has been one of great challenges and even greater blessings. We are in awe of God's provision for grace and strength in the midst of a very difficult journey. The healing has come in the most unexpected ways, and for that, we are most grateful.
